Fiber Art College

Imagine all the wonderful vendors with buttons, yarn, dyes? And learning new skills, enjoying old and new friendships as we look out at the Ocean and eat Lobster!

Yes I am teaching my art cloth techniques, including this monoprinting technique, but I think I will take a rug hooking class, too. Hopefully I will meet you there?

Northeast Kingdom, Vermont

Last week-end I went to the Northeast Kingdom, Vermont with a friend to her summer house. It was in lovely Greensboro, Vermont, the home of Caspian Lake. I dreamt of kayaking and swimming but only did each once as the rain never stopped.

Here is the view from the Lake as we kayaked at 8 am before the rain, under dark skies.

Under the water, it is very possible to see a lot of the glacier rock which is the "cause" of Caspian Lake. The lake is 1.5 miles long and 150 deep in the center. This yellow cottage is known as a camp in New England.

This is one of the two buildings which comprises my friend's summer home in Greensboro, VT. It is on a hill overlooking the lake but within walking distance of the lake. The views are fabulous.

This little shed and the second building of the summer home are also on the hill. See the mountain in the rear?

A relative, who was an architect, designed this home. Such a relaxing place as no phone, no tv!

We just drank wine, ate local cheeses and breads and read a book. What could be better!

Wild flowers

Earlier this week, I had to take a painting to UPS and on the way, the wild flowers caught my eye. Coming back, I stopped three times - and look at this beautiful bouquet of flowers! The lilies close at night and open during the day. This photo was taken at dusk in my dining room.

The fragrance is terrific.

We have had a rain shower or storm almost every day for a month. Lots of flowers, vegetables and wildlife to see.

A rainy June day!

I am doing a lot of knitting: socks, a sweater, another sweater! Last week I won a gift certificate to Not Just Yarn in Brattleboro, VT. Hooray!

These socks are the Regia yarn from Kaffe Fassett. Don't you love the colors?

I love this yarn. It is my favorite Blue Mountain colors and side to side sweater is designed by an artist who works with the Elegant Ewe in Concord, NH. Picky thought he should get the attention just as I clicked!

It has been a while since I posted to my blog. I finally published my website: http://www.terrilipman.com/. Through traffic builder, I spent the day posting it to the search engines.

But spring has finally come to New Hampshire. Kayaking on Forest Lake was delightful. The gardens and homes are terrific. Recently I spent three hours on the Connecticut River. The families of Canadian Geese were a sight to behold. (I longed for my camera!). Soon I will post photos of the kayaking trips!

Another snowy day!

We have had three snow storms in a week! And I live near MA so most of NH has had much more snow than us. We have had 100" of snow plus since December 1. Please, Spring, come soon. This is a 100 year record!

But the contrast of light/dark and brown/green and white is breathtaking. The mountains, especially in the sun's light, are truly alive! The scenery is magnificent. This majesty will be here while the temperature rises, hopefully soon.

Skiing is terrific. Snowshoeing is better. Last week I was on Pinnacle Trail in Fitzwilliam, NH.

The views were fabulous - literally a sight to behold as one could see 100 miles away.

UFO is all done!

Finally my Fair Isle socks are done. This is a kit from Red Bird Knits from the days when I belonged to the sock knitting club. I LOVE these!

No, these are not many skeins of yarn. Robin of Red Bird Knits has a very clever way of knitting fair isle socks. The colors are the self striping sock yarn and I just cut out the little pieces of yarn which had short color and white - by the inch. Therefore, I used a skein of white sock yarn and only the solid color part of the second skein.

Snow is forecasted for tomorrow so I will wear them for snowshoeing!

Art Cloth

Several years ago, when I decided to change my art focus, I took a class with Jane Dunnewold.

This year I spent a week with Rayna Gillman. Both are very talented, sharing and caring fiber artists. From their inspiration, I have fallen in love with making art cloth. Here is a photo of a just completed piece, a fat quarter, for sale.

The processes include dying, screenprinting, batik and more dyeing. Just love it. I only wish my photography would improve. I will be posting more photos of the art cloth in the future. In the meantime, feel free to send me an email if you wish to buy one. These are pieces of art for quilting, ATC's or anything you wish.

Sorry, folks, I live in NH and we are having our 7 or 8th snowstorm this month. I am off to shovel more snow. It sure is beautiful. Here is a photo as of 4pm today.:
