March 26 reception

Its' almost here. I am wall to wall with work. Here are two of my most recent collages which are being framed so I can feature them for a month.

Gallery Artist Opening

Save the date! Friday, March 26 will be the opening reception for three featured artists at the Walpole Artisan Cooperative. I am one of the artists and am doing new work. Pictures will follow.

Hiking Mt. Wantastisquet

Last week I took a break from doing my ebay sales to take a hike mup Mt. Wantastisquet. Not far up the trail, I found this A frame house. Is it for people or deer?

Who knows. It does offer some snow protection.

Then I kept hearing a hammering noise. Not many people were out and I couldn't understand who would be hammering. About 100 yards futher into the trail, I saw a beautiful woodpecker with the longest beak, ever! Despite my attempts, I could not capture him in a photographer. He was really putting a hole in the top of this tree! That beak created the hammering noise.

Today, it is sooooo cold outside that working on ebay sales is just the thing to do.

Yesterday I finished the birthday cards for the 1 year old twins who are in Tacoma, Washington with their folks until Thursday. Beth, their mom, is working at the Museum of Glass Art Studio for an artist residency. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2INvZWb9a-4

The Holidays are over!

After a nice calm Christmas, we went to WI to see our daughter and exchange a few gifts.

Knowing my affection for all things heritage, I received this box of notecards. The Museum of the City of New York hosts my cousin, Sam Gottscho's photography. He worked the the New York Times as a photographer.

Our flight went well. Air Tran was a goood airline and because they aren't a biggie, for once, the TSA was kind to me. WI is very cold. Glad to be home, even if it is snowing now.

The Surface Design Association online Scarf and Shawl Auction is open.

This is my favorite scarf. I am hoping the photography, which doesn't do it justice, will help me win this scarf at the SDA online Scarf and Shawl auction. The auction opened today. 80+ beautiful things.

NH Wool Arts Tour, ETC

Saturday was a beautiful day. The sky was alive with dark and white puffy clouds with the sun behind it. Occassionally it rained, no big deal.

I went for a new adventure. I decided to try a different route to Washington, NH. Washington is near President Franklin Pierce's home. Route 10 north is a ho hum ride but took a ride in Lempster and there I was, literally, at the base of a windmill. The windmill looks small from Route 10 but this is a huge piece of equipment, making electricity for some business. That windmill against the fall foliage was a sight to see.

From there, I landed in Washington at one of the stops on the NH Wool Arts Tour. Nice lady from Newport has her own dyed shetland type yarn for a 1.00 an ounce. Just couldn't plan then so she is a future trip! But I found two cute pairs of infant mittens for my twin GD. Can't beat the price of $6.00 each. Lunch of a Lamburger by the local historial society is always a treat.

Next stop was Deering. My first trip to Deering. Darling town. The Spinner Farm was fabulous and the scenery was breathtaking. Large barn with lots of horses and sheep and..... Open for stroking! Found a hank of fabulous rabbit angora merino mix. And the local alpaca farm was there. There yarn is yummy but that can be a local visit. Found a shop from Manchester selling Kauni. I had read a lot about it but now I can try it for a little should shawl. Oh, please give me time!

Then on to the Fiber Studio in Henniker, NH.

Henniker is a gem! Fabulous quilt shop: Quilted Threads, great restaurant: Daniels. A local college and fabulous scenery.

Fiber Studio has new owners and lots of stock. I met up with friends from the Granite State Knitters Group doing a demo.

From Henniker, I went to Concord where I got a great deal on tires for my car. Good bargains from the Land's End store.

Very productive and fun day!
